Henry’s eldest brother, Tom and his friend Rich Akers plan to run the equivalent of four marathons in four days on November 3rd. The motivation for this insane challenge is to raise funds for Henry’s Trust and Stoke Mandeville Spinal Unit where Henry was cared for on his return from Portugal.

Henry was a phenomenal athlete before his accident and Tom and Rich therefore believe such a run is an appropriate way to help financially secure Henry’s future goals and to support the fantastic work of the Stoke Mandeville Spinal Unit. The run is nothing in comparison with the challenges Henry has had to endure but they feel the magnitude of the distance will hopefully reflect their belief in the cause.

The run itself will follow a route from the Fraser household in Chipperfield down to Bournemouth Pier. It’s roughly 105miles and will be completed over the four days with a plan to finish on the Saturday, hopefully with plenty of support and an ice cream to greet them at the pier. The route will see them sample the ‘delightful’ sights of towns such as Reading, Basingstoke and Winchester. As well as a final day push through the New Forest finishing up, hopefully in one piece, at Bournemouth pier.

They are currently in full training for the run and are progressing at a confident rate. A recent training run totalled about 20 miles, still with a few months to build upon this. They also have fantastic support from their friend and 4 Marathons Sports Therapist, Laura Dent who is doing a great job to keep them injury free. All this is encouraging for when the test comes round for real on November 3rd.
